St Martin Du Canigou Tote Bag
St Martin du Canigou is a historic monastery located in Languedoc-Roussillon, Pyrenees mountains of southern France, near the border with Spain. The monastery is situated on a rocky hilltop, overlooking the Cady River and surrounded by dense forests.
The monastery was founded in the 11th century by a hermit named Guillaume de Gellone, who was a knight of Charlemagne. It was built in the Romanesque style and features a fortified tower, a cloister, and a church with a striking bell tower.
The monastery has been a place of pilgrimage for centuries and is still home to a community of monks who follow the rule of Saint Benedict. Visitors can tour the monastery and its grounds, which include a peaceful garden, a small museum, and a gift shop selling locally made products.
