Somme Bay Tea Towel
The Somme Bay Railway, also known as the Chemin de Fer de la Baie de Somme, is a historic railway line located in the Picardy region of northern France. The railway runs for 17 miles along the picturesque coastline of the Somme Bay, passing through several charming towns and villages along the way.
The railway line was originally built in the late 19th century to transport passengers and goods between the towns of Saint-Valery-Sur-Somme and Cayeux-Sur-Mer. Today, the railway is primarily used as a tourist attraction, with visitors riding on vintage steam and diesel locomotives that date back to the early 20th century.
The train journey takes approximately one hour and offers stunning views of the Bay of Somme and the surrounding countryside. Along the way, passengers can see historic landmarks, such as the Saint-Valery-Sur-Somme citadel and the lighthouse at Le Hourdel, as well as the picturesque fishing villages of Le Crotoy and Cayeux-Sur-Mer.
