The Royal Observatory Greenwich, located in London, England, is a historic site famous for its contributions to astronomy and navigation. It stands on a hill in Greenwich Park, offering a panoramic view of the city of London.
The observatory was founded in 1675 by King Charles II and was the first purpose-built scientific research institution in Britain. Its most famous feature is the Prime Meridian Line, or what was known as GMT, Greenwich Mean Time.
