Machu Picchu is an ancient Incan citadel located in the Andes Mountains of Peru. It was built in the 15th century and is considered one of the most important archaeological sites in the world. The site is situated at an elevation of 2,430 meters above sea level and is surrounded by lush tropical forests and steep mountain slopes.
The site was rediscovered in 1911 by the American explorer Hiram Bingham, and it has since become a popular tourist destination, attracting millions of visitors every year.
