Jefferson Memorial Tea Towel
The Jefferson Memorial is a presidential memorial in Washington, D.C., dedicated to Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States and one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. The memorial is located on the Tidal Basin, a man-made lake situated in the National Mall, and was designed by architect John Russell Pope in a Neoclassical style.
The memorial was built between 1939 and 1943 and features a large bronze statue of Thomas Jefferson, which stands over 19 feet tall. The statue depicts Jefferson standing with a quill pen and the Declaration of Independence in his hand, representing his role in drafting the document. The interior of the memorial features excerpts from Jefferson's writings, including the Declaration of Independence, the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom, and his letters to James Madison.
